Suki McMaster enjoyed whale watching every year before COVID and loved seeing them in the wild. Suki thinks the magnificent creature is so beautiful and calm, every time she sees them they put things perspective for her - we humans are so small and sometimes we just like to amplify every single problems that we have. At the end of the day, we are part of the earth, and we are only a tiny little dust in this universe.

This print is also inspired by the World Ocean Day and Suki really hopes that we can do more to save our ocean. It is also about the beautiful connection between human and the ocean. With 90% of big fish populations depleted, and 50% of coral reefs destroyed, we are taking more from the ocean than can be replenished.

Suki McMaster is a Hong Kong born Melbourne based Australian designer who creates bright and colourful homewares and giftware for happy homes. She describes her designs as cheerful, positive and bright, that transform homes into exquisite living spaces.

Suki's venture started off by selling fabrics. She would design her own patterns and have them digitally printed in the USA, later selling them online and at craft markets in Sydney and Melbourne. A lot of fellow stallholders bought her fabrics and when Suki saw the awe-inspiring products they were creating she got the idea of making her own products.

Suki McMaster's drawings are inspired by nature, in particular Australian nature, her love for travel and the love for her husband. Her recent artworks are more inspired by stories from around the world like the refugee crisis, climate change, and women rights. Everything Suki designs has a story to it. Her approach is to give every drawing and design a personal inspiration; to speak and reach out to the others in a more personal way. There are so many things that can upset us in lives so Suki hopes her products can put a smile on people’s faces.
